Our principal, Mark Wiemers, has practised in insurance law at large national law firms since 2002, before starting his own law firm in 2024.
When Mark acts for clients, he is directly hands on with all aspects of the conduct of the claim. So clients get the direct benefit of Mark’s 20 plus years of experience with every step. For Mark, the management of claims is not a process, but each is an individual file which requires consideration of a solution to provide the best possible outcome for the client, and one which reflects the client’s overall business imperatives.
Mark takes the time to understand his clients’ business, and provides advice that is clear, cost effective and guided towards the best outcome for his clients.
Mark’s approach is to obtain, through collaboration, an understanding of the client’s objectives and tailoring advice on each matter to achieve an outcome in line with those objectives. Mark is passionate about innovative practices, such as early resolutions beneficial to all parties and focuses on helping his clients achieve sustainable outcomes.
Mark’s experience includes:
- Representing and advising self-insurers in relation to all aspects of statutory and common law claims under the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (Qld). Mark currently represents a number of the largest self-insurers within the Queensland scheme.
- Managing public liability claims on behalf of insurers, and corporates with significant deductibles, under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (Qld).
- Managing dust diseases claims, both in Queensland and interstate, as well as pursuing recovery actions against other parties in respect of lump sum compensation paid.
- Handling property damage claims again on behalf of insurers, and corporates with significant deductibles.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology, and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
Mark has been recognised with listings over multiple years in Doyle’s Guide as both a Recommended Workers’ Compensation Lawyer (Defendant) and Recommended Dust Diseases Lawyer (Defendant).
